THE ROLE
The child protection Practice Leader is responsible for providing expert case advice and leadership; supporting and developing child protection practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating expertise through case management. The Practice Leader supports practice to develop plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes. The Practice Leader also undertakes case practice quality audits and provides regular practice forums and reflective practice sessions.
The R-SYP endeavours to develop a therapeutic and multi-systemic approach to support young people, and their families, whom are engaged in high harm offending. The development of a psycho-social program is one innovative response and a component of a suite of interventions to support young people, aimed to strengthen their family and community systems, and reduce their risk of harm.
Each of the Practice Leader roles will have specific responsibilities within the project:
Position #1 - responsible for developing and implementing the intervention project with Community Service Organisations, developing practice tools to support Child Protection in identifying and responding to the cohort of young people, provide practise support and wisdom in Child Protection interventions.
Position #2 - responsible for operational oversight of all R-SYP cohort, co-allocation and case planning, and systems oversight and navigations with government and non-government stakeholders across southern metro area.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
1.1 Risk assessment and analysis - gathers information through a variety of sources and technologies in order to identify, articulate, and plan for the risks relating to each situation. Applies a strong forensic lens, and professional judgement, to analyse the available evidence.
1.2 Case planning review and case management - draws insights from assessment and analysis to formulate a meaningful and effective case plan, and reviews case progress and outcomes. Co-ordinates and leads the planning, review, and management of casework within DFFH and across other agencies and services.
1.3 Critical enquiry - uses evidence based frameworks to investigate issues, and is able to understand the root cause of each issue as well as the potential implications.
