SYNOPSIS:
Treasury is seeking **APS5 Payroll Officers** to join the Employment Relations and Payroll Unit within the People and Organisational Strategy Branch.

The Unit provides payroll services and advice to employees of Treasury and the Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM). Treasury administers its payroll in-house using Aurion payroll software. Treasury also provides payroll services for AOFM.

Working under limited direction, you will:

- Administer pay and leave entitlements, including undertaking moderately complex to complex processes relating to pay, superannuation, leave entitlements, commencements and separations, higher duties and internal movements, overtime claims, and compensation.
- Process leave liabilities for employee transfers (incoming and outgoing).
- Provide accurate and timely advice to employees and managers on matters relating to pay, allowances and superannuation.
- Provide accurate and timely advice (with guidance from the Employment Relations team) on other workplace conditions in accordance with relevant legislation, industrial instruments and employment policies.
- Organise and complete work and quality assurance/checking for other team members within specified timeframes to ensure payroll cut off periods are met.
- Maintain personnel files and other payroll records to an appropriate standard, aligned to required record keeping practices.
- Actively contribute to payroll process enhancements, including system testing, as required.

- Ouild and sustain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Convey technical pay-related matters to employees and managers in an accessible, easy to understand way.
- Engage professionally in sensitive, sometimes difficult conversations about pay and conditions.
- Maintain a well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks with guidance from the Employment Relations team.
- Actively collaborate with other members of the branch and contribute to cross-team work and sustain a strong workplace culture.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**
- Demonstrated experiencing working in payroll.
- Experience using Aurion software or similar.
- Experience using customer relationship management tools and ticketing systems.
