**Role**:
**Performing and Visual Arts Technician (Theatre/Stage)**
- This is a **0.4 FTE (two days per week)** position with some flexibility required to support after-hours events and productions. The Performing and Visual Arts Technician supports a wide range of activities within the Performing and Visual Arts Faculty at Melbourne High School, as well as select whole-school and combined schools¿ events. This role is essential in assisting the delivery of high-quality performances, exhibitions, and productions.
- The responsibilities outlined below represent the core tasks regularly performed in the role, though they are not exhaustive. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned by management as required.
- This is an Education Support Class Range 1-2 position, supporting the educational services provided to students. It does not involve teaching duties, as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students is not a core requirement of this position, except in controlled circumstances where it is incidental and the responsibility remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:
- The responsibilities encompass, but is **not limited** to:

Drama/Theatre Studies/Theatrette**: Working with staff members in classes to instruct on use of equipment. Assist with construct or procurement of sets, stage and/or theatrette set ups, materials procurement, transportation of students and props etc to offsite production venues, manage inventory of materials and resources. Become familiar with Midas Audio Desk and Mantra Lite Lighting Desk. Become, or be already familiar with, how to patch lights in theatrette, and work on ladders. Liaise with Maintenance Dept to engage any tradespeople needed for electrics and repairs in theatrette. Periodically organising set pieces, costumes and props in storage locations.

Performing Arts**:Inventory and storage of all stage management equipment (audio, lighting, cables, stands etc). Maintain and repair all equipment where necessary. Become familiar with the technical areas of lighting and audio in Memorial Hall. Work with staff members who need lighting/audio for performances (e.g., Music) and be at the set-up of any school owned equipment with teacher in charge of stage crew and the staff member in charge of the performing arts events (Music/Theatre Studies/Art Show)

General support of visual arts staff**, with instruction from visual art staff members to assist in preparation of artwork, classroom displays and maintenance of art displays and associated events within the arts, equipment set up and maintenance for practical classes and accompanying staff on excursions.

Whole School Productions**: Under of the guidance of the teachers in charge, collaboratively support the involvement of Stage Crew in school productions, including assigning student roles, providing training and support to Stage Crew students during the productions at Melbourne High School and Mac.Robertson Girls¿ High School (such as the Winter Music Concert and combined schools¿ play/musical), and supporting professional crew working with students and staff at internal and external events. Some of these events run outside of the standard school day.

Stage Crew Club**: Manage the equipment used by Stage Crew (this is a central pool of equipment used by all events). This includes liaising with staff who organise events, and the staff member in charge of Stage Crew, conducting training to stage crew students on how to use the school¿s equipment, and ensuring an appropriate range of equipment is available to serve the needs of the whole school.
