**Role description**:
The role is for a Technical or Associate Technical Director, Civil within our Urban Development team in Brisbane. You will be reporting directly to our Discipline Manager for Design & Engineering: Urban Development & Regeneration.
Our Urban Development team is a rapidly growing team with a diverse portfolio of greenfield residential and industrial developments along with infill urban regeneration projects. Existing projects underway and in the pipeline include a number of notable developments located within South-East Queensland with some of the region's most prominent property developers.
The role responsibilities include:
- To take a key role in projects within relevant specialist field, providing leadership, technical advice and overview as required
- To be able to develop solutions that fall outside the standard codes
- To build on an existing professional profile and reputation, at an area level within the industry and within Arcadis
- To manage the delivery of projects and establish the most effective team to achieve this
- To deliver technically complete solutions and reports to clients that meet their expectations and are within the Arcadis budget
- To manage technical risk mitigation, safety, and value in design processes
- To develop and deliver integrated design programs and key performance milestones and reports at all stages
- To assist in the technical development of staff, coaching and mentoring on technical issues and assisting with chartered institution membership
- To establish and consolidate relationships with clients, both during and after project completion
- To use technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities
- To provide technical & commercial input into the bidding process
- Have been accepted by EDQ for both Project Coordinator and Civil Certifier roles (PDA | CPM)
- Have established working relationships with SEQ Councils and Water Authorities to be able to assist our clients with the land development approval process
**Role accountabilities**:

- Keeping up to date with technical and legislative requirements
- Building effective and enduring relationships with other teams and technical disciplines
- Using knowledge of client business and competition to provide input and competitive focus during the bid process
- Mentoring and developing the skill base of specialised technical teams
- Providing technical expertise and overview to client and stakeholders and assisting clients through technical decision-making and provide alternatives options/solutions if there are changes to project parameters
- Providing reassurance, confidence, and a sense of direction to both client and project team members
- Using understanding of the technical challenges and client business to form the most effective team
- Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements
- Seeking and documenting regular feedback from clients on the quality of Arcadis performance, technical solutions and delivery and take action as required
- Implementing a high level of innovation in technical issues, problem solving and the culture of the team, leading by example
- Manage the design team to achieve programme, quality and delivery targets
- Undertaking technical reviews for projects
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis
**Qualifications & Experience**:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life through your contribution to major urban development and regeneration projects that change the way we move around our city. You are a chartered or registered engineering professional (RPEQ) with a passion for sharing your knowledge and experience with the next generation of engineers. You will come to us with:
- 15+ years of experience
- Chartered or registered engineer and with relevant local accreditation (RPEQ);
- Extensive senior industry experience with urban development and regeneration design management is essential;
- Well established industry networks and be a recognised leader in urban development;
- Demonstrated experience working in a consulting environment with clear responsibility for technical & commercial outcomes;
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of technical, drafting and engineering staff both locally and internationally; and
- Proven ability to network and influence peers, as well as excellent communication and relationship building skills bo
