**About this position**

The role contributes directly to the City's environmental sustainability by assessing planning proposals and recommending conditions for water management, bushfire risk, revegetation, and fauna management, while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.

This dynamic position will work closely with internal teams and represent the City by engaging with developers and external agencies, as well as contributing to the development of local planning policies and environmental guidelines.

**What we are looking for**

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

- Knowledge of best practice environmental management and ecological principles
- Knowledge of the role of environmental assessment within the planning framework
- Substantial experience in, and detailed knowledge of, statutory requirements relevant to environmental management
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities

**Essential requirements**
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Environmental Management, Science or relevant area
- White Card
- Driver's licence

**Desirable requirements**
- Previous local government experience in subdivision assessment
- Comprehensive understanding of land development and water management practices
