THE ROLE

ECS are searching for an ambitious problem solver to join our growing team of environmental professionals. As an Environmental Advisor with 3-8 years of experience you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of environmental management solutions to our clients. You will work alongside a team of experienced and highly regarded professionals, gaining valuable insights and contributing to a diverse range of meaningful projects.

Reporting to the Environmental Approvals Coordinator, this team member will be primarily responsible for drafting approvals and permitting applications to meet the activity scopes requested by our clients. As an Advisor, our expectation is that this person will have had some experience in authoring documents and reports such as OPPs, EPs, EIA's, Referrals and Permit applications. They should be capable of working as part of a team to deliver their work on time and on budget.

The Advisor will also be given the opportunity to participate in secondary scopes of work including compliance assurance, monitoring and biosecurity inspections. Any experience in these aspects of environmental management will be viewed positively.

  • Contribute to the development of environmental approval documents (such as Environment Plans and Environmental Impact Statements/Assessments)

  • Co-author and support the development of technical environmental documents

  • Assist in the management of compliance assurance processes and tools

  • Lead data management and the compilation of technical reports, to present findings and informed recommendations to clients

  • Support the management of projects including project planning, budget development and management, and leading client interactions

  • Continue to develop your own technical and functional skills to progressively take on greater responsibilities as experience grows

  • Assist or lead field work including environmental monitoring, auditing, inspections, or training, as required by the client

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing them with clear and concise reports, and updates on project progress

ABOUT YOU

You have 3-8 years of relevant experience in approvals under OPGGS Act, EPBC Act or State environmental Acts and regulations and a commitment to environmental sustainability and ethical practices.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A tertiary degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent

  • Advanced report writing with attention for detail

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, and a desire to contribute to the team

  • A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications

  • Be flexible, efficient, and possess the desire and ability to work on multiple projects at any one time

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and ethical practices

Desirable

  • 3-8 years' experience in an environmental role or industry or an associated government department

  • Knowledge of the Australian marine and terrestrial environment and environmental legislation
