Job Title: Data Scientist
The role of a data scientist is multifaceted and demands a high level of expertise in advanced analytics and statistical modeling. As part of the State Operational Data Store Program, this position entails applying sophisticated data science techniques to health data.
Our ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver investigative analytics, structured statistical model building, and data engineering pipeline and platform for key enterprise solutions.
This includes designing, developing, and refining machine learning algorithms to ensure outputs are reproducible, robust, and aligned with current best practices.
Interpreting outputs from algorithms, clearly articulating assumptions, limitations, and implications for stakeholders is crucial.
Validation through structured testing and documentation is also essential, as well as establishing dashboards to monitor algorithms in production environments.
Collaboration with development teams to package and provide algorithm outputs for deployment into production applications is a key aspect of this role.
A history of openness to explore new analytics techniques and data engineering principles is highly valued.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, Actuarial, Mathematics, or Statistics.
Experience (2+ years) applying advanced analytical methodologies, including predictive modelling and machine learning concepts.
Experience (2+ years) with SQL, Python, R, Jupyter Notebook, and core data science libraries.
