HIA Legal Services currently have an opportunity for a highly motivated Adviser to join our Brisbane based team, to provide advice to Housing Industry Association (HIA) members in Queensland.

**What will you be doing?**

If you have always wanted to use your legal skills to have a direct and positive impact then this is the job for you.

In your role you will directly advise HIA members, over the phone and in writing, across a range of legal and compliance disciplines including employment law, human resources, contract management and administration, construction law, dispute resolution, safety and builder's licensing. HIA Legal Services does not provide advice in relation to more complex legal matters, prepare legal documents or act on behalf of members in legal or tribunal proceedings.

You may also be asked to meet members face to face through the delivery of training and presentations to small and large groups on key business compliance issues.

Supporting and representing the interests of our members is a core value of HIA. In this role you may be given opportunities to assist HIA lobby governments and regulators and formulate policy submissions.

There will be opportunities to assist with the review and management of HIA's suite of residential and commercial building contracts across Australia.

**Who are you?**

Are you looking to further your legal career? Do you want to be exposed to a range of challenging legal areas? Are you looking for a hands on role outside of a traditional law firm?

You are passionate about helping people, enjoy practical problem solving and using your initiative. You are a confident communicator both over the phone and in writing. A good working knowledge of workplace relations law and/ or construction law is desirable.

You will have at least 2+ years of post-admission experience and hold a current practising certificate.

HIA is Australia's peak residential building industry body. HIA members include builders, contractors, developers, manufacturers and suppliers. HIA delivers services to its members in a number of areas, including policy and advocacy, business compliance and advice and training.

HIA Legal Services is a wholly owned incorporated legal practice of the HIA. HIA Legal Services provides confidential legal advice and support to HIA members.
