SPA Australia provides senior decision makers within the Australian Defence Force with timely and objective analysis of military capabilities and operations across the full spectrum of conflict. Our team of experienced military professionals and highly qualified analysts integrate operational expertise with advanced analytic methods - including force generation modelling, agent-based tactical simulations, wargaming, and operational mission analyses - to develop and deliver products that evaluate current and future capabilities and concepts.
SPA Australia has a need for a Cost Analyst to support a range of Defence programs.
**Responsibilities**:
- Learn routine cost estimating and analysis methods (such as analogy, engineering, and extrapoloation) to develop standard cost analyses, including program office estimates, Life Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCEs), Independent Cost Estimates, and Analysis of Alternatives.
- Develop statistical relationships through data collection and regression analysis
- Develop and brief results and cost models to senior government leaders to enable decision-making
- Prepare and/or analyse program engineering technical baseline documents for content completeness and consistency with other program documents and tools/models.
- Receive professional development and upskilling from an expert team of Cost Analysts
Qualifications:
**Required Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field.
- Interest in learning how to conduct cost analysis and develop cost estimates for Defence projects.
- Ability to think outside the box and solve problems in short time periods
- Strong analytic skills, including the ability to analyse data, identify trends, draw conclusions, and summarise and communicate actionable results**Desired Qualifications**:
- Experience conducting cost analysis and building cost estimates for Defence
- Experience with parametric analysis and statistical regression
- Thorough understanding of statistics and data analysis
- Cost analysis certification from an accredited organisation such as the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA)
