KU Children's Services is seeking a dedicated Supported Playgroups **Coordinator**to lead our 9 Inner West Supported Playgroups across the local government areas of Marrickville, Ashfield, Strathfield, Canada Bay and Burwood. This position would be a fixed-term contract till December 2025 with anticipated extension to the contract with Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) until 2030.
**About the Role**
This is an exciting opportunity to work 4 days a week Monday to Thursday a day in a fulfilling, community-based role. As a coordinator, you will work with small team across a range of community venues and schools delivering weekly sessions. You will also manage data entries into DCJ portal and ensure the program's positive outcomes that strengthen wellbeing of families and children under 6 years of age.
- Key responsibilities include: _
- Coordinate the provision of diverse range of play and learning activities designed to meet the interests and developmental stages of children and to extend their learning.
- Lead and guide practice of the Inner West Supported Playgroups team of 6 part time staff.
- Model positive, age-appropriate interactions with children and support parents/carers with advice on how to play and communicate with their child.
- Support parents and carers through active listening, discussion, network promotion, referrals and positive role modelling.
- Promote the value and benefits of playgroup participation and take referrals from local community members.
- Liaise with Interagency and other community members to ensure that adequate support and guidance is provided to all families.
- Be responsible for the development and overall operation of the Inner West Supported Playgroup Program
**The successful applicant will have**
- Relevant team leading and management experience
- Sound computer skills and an eye for detail in data entry
- An ACCEQA recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree,
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates and approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates
- Completed training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children,
- Current Working with Children Check
- Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011),
