
Senior Defect Manager

Job Role:
The organization is seeking a skilled professional to lead defect management across multiple Agile squads.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, prioritize, resolve and close defects in a timely manner.
Conduct daily triage sessions with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, product owners and stakeholders to assess impact, severity and ownership of issues.
Monitor defect trends and analyze root causes to inform continuous improvement efforts and enhance overall product quality.
Cross-Squad Coordination:
Serve as the central point of contact for all defect-related communication across 10 Agile squads.
Evaluate critical or blocking defects and contribute to readiness assessments.
Reporting & Tooling:
Utilize IRA and Xray to manage defect workflows and generate actionable dashboards.
Maintain weekly defect status reports including metrics on defect aging, reopen rates and fix turnaround KPIs.
Leadership & Governance:
Develop strategies for defect prevention, test coverage and implementation of quality gates during sprints.
Mentor junior QA and test analysts in effective defect documentation, reproduction techniques and analysis.
Requirements:
5+ years experience in defect/test management roles within large Agile programs.
Advanced expertise in Jira and Xray with strong understanding of defect metrics and their implications.
Proven leadership in defect governance and experience in Government and Disability/Health-related domains.
Strong familiarity with CI/CD environments and automated deployment pipelines.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong technical knowledge in the relevant area.
