**The role**:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager - Head of Discipline (HoD) to join our team at Garden Island Defence Precinct. As the Head of Discipline, you will be responsible for leading a team of Electrical Design Engineers and Technicians/Draftspersons. Your primary focus will be on achieving program objectives through the design and technical engineering of electrical systems onboard Naval Platforms. This includes bid estimating, design process, development, integration, and verification of electrical systems to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include;
- Leading, directing, mentoring, and developing the Electrical Team
- Supporting the professional development pathway program for all team members
- Providing leadership and advice on major bids and projects, including AUSDEFCON.
- Writing or reviewing Systems Engineering Management Plans and related engineering plans.
- Forecasting Work in Progress and future workload in collaboration with other Functional Managers.
- Maintaining a Level 2 or equivalent Engineering Authority in the field of Electrical Engineering.
- Promoting AWS products/services and capabilities throughout Thales and the wider communities.
- Leading and directing engineering activities for major projects, from needs analysis to solution development, integration, and verification.
- Generating optimized solution architectures, conducting trade studies, and managing technical solution development cycles.
- Performing the role of Principal Design Authority (PDA) as required.

**How about you?**
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering and managing engineering teams.
- Proven track record in leading and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise in electrical systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Level 2 or equivalent Engineering Authority in Electrical Engineering (desired).
- Experience in the defence industry or naval platforms (desired).
