**Role Description**:
The Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer will focus on providing a culturally safe journey for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through our health service, with a specific focus on cancer patients. The purpose of this position is to improve access and equity to health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This role:

- Provides a service to promote a culturally welcoming and sensitive environment at Bendigo Health to help support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community navigate and transition through the health service.
- Provides health promotion, education and program delivery to improve health and wellbeing.
- Assists in improving identification, access and availability of appropriate health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Bendigo Health.
- Ensures the provision of resources, information and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people so informed decision-making concerning treatment, prevention and rehabilitation can be made by the individual and family.

The Community and Public Health Services Division has a primary focus on improving the health outcomes of the communities in our region. With a range of local and regional programs supporting place-based health promotion, prevention, care and support, they work collaboratively with other Divisions and regional partnerships and networks to support quality outcomes. The Division has a strong leadership role in the Loddon Mallee Region and is committed to ensuring processes are in place to deliver on our Division.
