**Role Description**
- The Public Health Officer (PHO) protects public health by helping prevent, investigate, respond and manage cases and outbreak breaks of communicable disease in the community.
- Reporting to a team leader, the PHO provides the operational response to notifications of infectious disease in the Loddon-Mallee. They conduct case and contact interviews in order to establish acquisition links, identify high risk individuals, groups and facilities, and provide public health advice and recommendations. They may also provide health monitoring and support to people throughout their infectious period, and provide advice and referral arrangement for other service providers. The PHO enables effective outbreak management through collaborative engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and agencies.
- The Loddon-Mallee Public Health Unit utilises a blended working model in Bendigo and across the Loddon-Mallee region with staff working in the office and remotely as required.

**The Team**
- The Community and Public Health Services Division has a primary focus on improving the health outcomes of the communities in our region. With a range of local and regional programs supporting place-based health promotion, prevention, care and support, they work collaboratively with other Divisions and regional partnerships and networks to support quality outcomes. The Division has a strong leadership role in the Loddon Mallee Region and is committed to ensuring processes are in place to deliver on our Division.

**Selection Criteria**
- Essential : Graduate qualification in a health or other relevant field, if a health professional, current registration with AHPRA with no practicing restrictions or eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association
- Essential : Excellent verbal and written communication skills
