The Principal Directional Studies role will provide delivery of Resource and Project studies for the Group Technical Services team and other Group functions. This will be part of a Group level department including engineers, studies and project professionals.
About the role
This role is responsible for providing Directional Studies, including Strategic and Resource Development Potential studies, as well as conceptual-level and group-level strategy evaluations.
**Such as**:
Develop and maintain processes and systems to support Group Studies, including financial evaluation, and facilitate strategic planning workshops.
Stay informed on industry advancements, identify opportunities for technology adoption and innovation, and prepare business cases for implementation.
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring best practices are shared and embedded at the Group level.
Conduct technical due diligence for M&A activities, assess opportunities and risks, and present findings to senior stakeholders.
Independently review strategic plans and development studies, coach technical professionals, and uphold health, safety, and leadership values.
About you
To succeed in this position, an individual must possess strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities.The role requires a solid background in metalliferous operations, the ability to manage processes and studies, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Effective communication, problem-solving, and the ability to manage complexity across short
- and long-term planning horizons are essential for success.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field (postgraduate qualification preferred).
Membership in the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy or a similar professional body.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in metalliferous operations, with a strong focus on precious metals.
Proven ability to deliver technical services, studies, and projects, including process improvement and transformation.
Strong strategic and planning skills, with the ability to translate business strategy into actionable initiatives.
Proficiency in planning systems, data management, and relevant software.
Experience in economic evaluation, project management, and leadership.
Excellent communication, influence, and prioritization skills, with a commitment to working safely at all times.
