Group Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) helps drive CBA's brand and reputation, working closely with the business to deliver insight and creativity to engage our customers, communities and broader stakeholders. MCA works across all areas of the Group as a trusted partner to engage and influence stakeholders to build equity in the brand, increase CBA's competitive advantage and support the Group's business success and market value.

Government and Industry Affairs advances and protects CBA's interests by engaging with Federal and State politicians, senior bureaucrats and relevant industry associations, informing policy development in an evidence-based manner, encouraging the adoption of policies that align with CBA's values and strategic objectives, and minimising the risk of adverse regulatory change.

**Do work that matters**

Your role is to support the CBA Group's engagement with Government and major industry associations.

In this role you will manage various projects including, but not limited to:

- Supporting CBA's Business Banking division in terms of public policy and government relations.
- Preparing accurate and high quality briefs for the GIA team on policy issues, taking in policy analysis and the political context;
- Preparing high quality meeting briefs for executive meetings with Government representatives;
- Supporting the GIA and CBA's cyber team in policy development in the area of cyber security;
- Supporting the GIA process for preparing executives to appear before parliamentary inquiries.
- Coordinating and participating in the monitoring of the parliamentary schedule and relevant parliamentary hearings;
- Maintaining proactive contact with political and policy contacts;
- Managing constituent issues from time to time.

**Your Responsibilities**
- Supporting the provision of high quality intelligence and advice on politics and public policy to senior decision makers in the Group, including in the form of briefing notes that draw on accurate and verifiable data from external and internal sources;
- Monitoring the political and policy environment to identify and highlight emerging opportunities and risks to achieving the commercial and reputational objectives of the Commonwealth Bank Group.
- Supporting the GIA leadership team in the development of Corporate Affairs strategies and frameworks to build and sustain CBA's reputation as an industry leader and to influence the operating environment in CBA's favour.
- Supporting Commonwealth Bank's Business Banking division, including small business banking and regional and agribusiness banking.
- Proactively identifying and executing on opportunities to advance the profile of Commonwealth Bank Group and its associated entities as the leading specialist voice of financial wellbeing in Australia, including with respect to policy leadership as it relates to cyber security.
- Managing constituent matters from time to time via relationships with the business and MPs/Senators.

- Strong understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising with parliamentary offices.
- Well established networks and reputation with both sides of State and Federal Governments
- Strong experience and understanding of economic and fiscal policy issues
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a listed, issues rich and highly regulated environment managing government relations, or in Government.
- Tertiary degree with excellent results in economics, law, political science or other relevant humanities discipline.
- Experience in the day-to-day management of government relations and policy issues including the provision of timely advice and the preparation of accurate responses within deadlines.
- Appreciation and understanding of internal political issues within large national organisations and a proven ability to build relationships and get the best out of people at all levels.
- High-level conceptual and analytical skills, evident business acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication capability.
