As part of the team, you'll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It's no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

**What you'll do**:
As our Operations Geologist you will oversee onshore Geological Operations across EA & PNG assets, including CSG, Cooper Basin, NT Unconventional, and PNG. Deliver efficient data acquisition, support wellsite operations, and independently geosteer horizontal wells. You are required to perform duties on a rotational 24/7 on-call basis and may be required to perform night shifts, as needed.
- Key accountabilities include:

- Provide operational support during well execution for Santos' onshore drilling projects.
- Conduct geosteering and geological interpretation using standalone software.
- Act as duty Operations Geologist, enabling real-time decision-making.
- Supervise wellsite data acquisition (mud logging, LWD, wireline, etc.) to ensure quality and safety.
- Make real-time geological picks to optimise well placement and subsurface insight.
- Collaborate on horizontal drilling planning for alignment and efficiency.
- Deliver clear reports to internal teams, JV partners, and regulators.
- Ensure regulatory compliance during drilling and data acquisition.
- Foster a collaborate, high-performing team culture.

**What you'll bring**:
Technical Competencies:

- Strong understanding of drill rig components, operations, and processes (lease layout, fluids, casing, cementing).
- Knowledge of wellbore drilling dynamics and subsurface interactions.
- Familiar with rig safety policies and HSE compliance.
- Skilled in geosteering techniques and use of deep azimuthal imaging LWD tools.
- Understand mudlogging unit functions and procedures.
- Interpret drilling indicators for Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient.
- Explain open/cased hole logging and well testing procedures.
- Troubleshoot operational issues to ensure drilling efficiency and data quality.
- Deliver insightful lookback presentations with lessons learned.
- Support contract tendering with focus on quality, efficiency, and cost control.
