The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Workforce Management and Transformation Branch (WMTB) is responsible for driving positive cultural and workforce transformation within the Australian Border Force (ABF), ensuring the operational workforce is ready to meet the challenges of its future operating environment.

WMTB supports the ABF with strategic workforce planning, data modelling and analytics, innovation and workforce transformation. WMTB also manages awards and recognition, culture and behaviour initiatives, talent, career and workforce management, and attraction and retention strategies including the Border Force Officer Recruit Trainee (BFORT) entry process.

WMTB has a number of vacancies at Leading Border Force Officer (LBFO - APS4) level across the Branch, including in the Workforce Mobilty and Recognition and Workforce Sustainment teams. Officers engage closely with Regions across all ABF Commands and with the Department in performing their role.

These roles will produce written briefings and reports, engage a wide range of stakeholders and provide support to the Postings Program. The roles will also be involved in assisting the ABF Awards and Recognition Program and Workforce Sustainment objectives including BFORT recruitment programs and promoting the ABF as an employer of choice. Each role will report to an ABF Border Force Supervisor in their Section within WMTB.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Assist in providing advice and support to the Border Force Officer Recruit Training (BFORT) recruitment process, including coordinating and facilitating the advertising campaign for BFORT recruitment
- Prepare correspondence and documentation and provide tailored responses to enquiries
- Maintain accurate records of discussions and decisions, and advise decision makers of outcomes in clear, concise language
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal stakeholders within the ABF and across the broader portfolio to advance workforce management interests and priorities
- Assist with preparing, organising and conducting career expos
- Have proven ability in coordinating and prioritising different tasks and projects simultaneously both independently and as a member of a team
- Engage effectively with key stakeholders from within ABF and the Department to achieve outcomes
- Produce high quality data, briefings, and presentations to team members, managers, and stakeholders.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:
Applicants should demonstrate the capabilities, skills and knowledge described by the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) Work Level Standards for the APS Level 4 classification.
