About the RoleForensicare have a number of exciting opportunities for a Grade 2 Social Worker to join a dedicated and unique multidisciplinary team at the Thomas Embling Hospital.Position is based in Fairfield at the Thomas Embling Hospital.In patient Services at Thomas Embling Hospital (TEH) are provided within a high-security forensic hospital.
Primarily designed to facilitate the provision of assessments, acute or continuing care and treatment for consumers admitted from the criminal justice system, TEH is a unique service provided in VictoriaThe Social Worker Grade 2 contributes to ongoing development and planning of social work services to achieve and maintain a high standard of consumer care.This position will consult with care team regarding social and systemic issues, as well as advocating for consumer and family/carer rights and entitlements.As a Grade 2 Social Worker, you will:Deliver high quality social work services consistent with the Forensicare Model of Care, including maintaining a safe therapeutic environment through the use of relational security, risk reduction and rights-based interventions.Work with consumers and family/carers around psychosocial needs and legal literacy, as well as accessing supports and referrals to external services.Acknowledge the unique issues and concerns experienced by consumers, families and carers involved in the forensic mental health system.Hold a service development portfolio and maintain relevant resources for the TEH social work teamPrioritise complex issues, including community transition, service access, and agency and family relationships as they impact on the individual well-being.About You:Approved degree in social work, or other qualifications approved for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.Post-qualifying social work practice experience in forensic mental health or a related field.Ability to deliver ethical and effective social work services in a statutory practice environment.Interest or expertise in practice areas of substance use/AoD Recovery, family therapy, forensic disability or forensic rehabilitation.Ability to coordinate and evaluate social work practice and service development activities.Understands risk reduction and recovery principles and practices in a forensic mental health setting.To view the full Position Description, click the following link: LINK TO PDA mental health and wellbeing program providedProfessional Development training opportunities to suit your career goalAccess to an employee assistance program - an external, confidential, self-referral employee wellbeing program, for personal or work-related matters.Fitness passport - discounted unparalleled access to a wide range of gyms, pools and fitness centresRefer a friend program, get up to a $1000Salary sacrificing of $9,010 and $2650 meal allowance per annumSocial Club, access to discounted cinema tickets, AFL games, Zoos, Concerts etcComprehensive Orientation Day before you start, and buddy system availableInfluenza and Immunisation EvidenceThis position is subject to a Police CheckTo ApplyApplications must include a current resume and a detailed cover letter outlining your interest in the position.Applications will be reviewed and interviewed as received.
