**About the Role**:
Join our team as a Grade 2 social worker in a full time, ongoing role within our Children's Cancer Centre team at Monash Children's Hospital, based at Clayton. This is a unique opportunity to join the Allied Health team at Monash Children's Hospital and will see you become an integral part within a supportive and professional team.

**About Us**

Social Workers at Monash Children's Hospital are an integral part of the broader Monash Children's Allied Health Team, delivering specialised services to infant, paediatric and adolescent patients and their families. Social work services are provided in inpatient settings including Paediatric ICU, Children's Cancer Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; in ambulatory care services such as the Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and we work closely with state-wide services such as the Paediatric Palliative Care Program and the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service.

Monash Children's Hospital offers a dynamic, fast-paced, and supportive work environment. This position spans both inpatient services and the Children's Cancer Centre with a focus on supporting children with acute and chronic conditions and their families. Key responsibilities include providing psychosocial support, counselling, discharge planning and coordinating referrals to external agencies.

A commitment to holistic, family centred care and systems-based approach is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical, as the role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams and community based services. Social work is highly valued within this collaborative and team-oriented setting.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge:

- A dynamic, adaptable, and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound knowledge of relevant resources, assessment and intervention frameworks, and a strong understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting families through the challenges of both acute and chronic illness, with a deep understanding of the psychosocial impact on children and their families.
- A well-developed understanding of end-of-life care in paediatrics, including the ability to provide compassionate grief and bereavement support.
- Willingness to participate in the Social Work after-hours on-call service across hospital sites, with appropriate training and support provided.

**What you will need**:

- Minimum 2 years clinical social work experience
- Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Experience in an acute health care setting and/or with children and families and/or with Child Protection
