**About the role**:
The Executive Officer, City Transport is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the department's staff, finances and assets in alignment with the Council's mission, structure and resources.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Leading a multi-disciplinary team within the transport department
- Provide strategic support to the general manager, leadership & senior executive teams
- Identify and substantiating projects from an integrated transport and land-use perspective
- Translate transport, land use and economics ideas to ensure effective impactful use of the transport policy and strategy
- Assist in the development of innovative solutions & new funding sources to connect the funding gap for transport infrastructure
- Ensure existing frameworks are utilised, updated and reviewed for the Departments compliance, aligning with relevant legislation and Council policies
- Managing division led programs and projects to a high standard and working across the organisation to deliver outcomes on time and to budget
- Manage assigned divisional and Council's programs to a high standard including engagement with the community, program management and reporting
- Be motivating to staff through their development, building and maintaining a positive workplace that fosters a high level of performance, continuous improvement and service delivery
- Lead by example through enthusiastically demonstrating the council's workplace values on a daily and ongoing basis

**Requirements for the position**:

- Tertiary degree in civil engineering, urban planning or other relevant transport disciplines
- Postgraduate qualification highly desirable in the are of transport engineering or planning
- Extensive strategic transport planning, analysis and advocacy skills
- Proven experience in providing executive support, lead a diverse multi-skilled team, whilst successfully executing change
- Detailed level of understanding regarding legislation, regulations, design standards and codes of practice relation to the area of transport infrastructure
- High level of negotiation and influencing techniques used to build genuine internal and external relationships to achieve successful business and organisational outcomes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to prepare high-level briefings & reports for varied audiences
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Capability to maintain confidential information and communicate professionally with key stakeholders and leaders within the community
