City Transport Leadership Role

This is a leadership role that involves leading the strategic transport policy and project outcomes with a dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department's staff, finances and assets in alignment with the Council's mission, structure and resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team within the transport department to achieve exceptional results.
  • Provide strategic support to senior executive teams to drive business success.
  • Identify and substantiate projects from an integrated transport and land-use perspective to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Translate transport, land use and economics ideas into practical solutions that meet business needs.
  • Assist in developing innovative solutions and new funding sources to drive growth and improvement.
  • Evaluate existing frameworks to ensure they are utilised and reviewed for compliance.
  • Manage division-led programs and projects to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Motivate staff through development and maintain a positive workplace culture.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary degree in civil engineering, urban planning or relevant transport disciplines.
  • Postgraduate qualification desirable in transport engineering or planning.
  • Strategic transport planning, analysis and advocacy skills to drive business success.
  • Experience in providing executive support and leading diverse teams.
  • Understanding of legislation, regulations and design standards related to transport infrastructure.
  • Negotiation and influencing techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Emotional intelligence and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
