About the section

The Bonded Medical Program Section is responsible for administration of the Bonded Medical Program and the two legacy bonded medical program schemes, the Bonded Medical Places Scheme and the Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship Scheme. The Bonded Medical Program aims to provide more doctors in regional, rural and remote areas that are experiencing doctor shortages. The Program is a critical component of the Government's Stronger Rural Health Strategy to ensure that the Australian trained medical workforce is well-distributed, flexible and targeted to areas of most need.

**Key Responsibilities**
- With limited direction, lead a team for bonded medical programs which aim to provide more doctors in regional, rural and remote areas that are experiencing doctor shortages.
- Provide guidance on program administration and ensure consistency of approach in line with legislation and policy.
- Manage workflows including provision of support for team members who are processing information requests and manage escalated and complex policy enquiries.
- Prepare and/or clear responses to Ministerial and other correspondence.
- Engage with stakeholders including doctors, students, government departments and other organisations.
- Maintain program data bases and tracking systems, including mailbox management.
- Collate and analyse data, including to assess workload volumes and reporting.
