Job DescriptionMidlothian Council is seeking to appoint a Project Support Manager for our multi-disciplinary Development Team, which delivers the Council's Capital Plan.
The successful candidate will lead our Project Management Office (PMO) function, supporting the delivery of Midlothian Council's Capital Programme through effective internal project administration and reporting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely information is available internally and reported externally to our partners on our capital projects.
This PMO role is required to provide high quality administrative and reporting support to the Development Team's day to day activities.
The post holder will support the drive to meet the infrastructure needs of communities in Midlothian, Scotland's fastest growing local authority.
KNOWLEDGE:
Educated to Degree/ HND or SVQ Level 4 and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Excellent organisation, time-management and administrative skills
Analytical and strategic problem solving skills
Wide ranging use of databases, spreadsheets etc.
Skilled used of digital applications to support financial processes and monitoring.
Accomplished interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to deal with a range of contacts up to senior management level.
Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office packages is essential and experience of other information management tools would be desirable.
Ideally jobholders would have a sound knowledge of local authority services, budgetary and personnel procedures.
Ability to manage workload effectively and delegate appropriately
Ability to maintain professional integrity and respect confidentiality.
Self-motivated with an enthusiastic approach
A team player
Ability to work independently
Effective organisational skills.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £39,.74 per annum.ResponsibilitiesCompliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard.
This requires completion of a basic/standard/enhanced disclosure check for all employees who can access official information.
The fee will be met by you.

You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view.
