The Head of Group Strategy will be responsible for developing, leading and presenting strategic projects which directly enable executive management to make the highest priority and most significant strategic decisions aligned to Group priorities. The strategy projects are unique in nature and have very high value, high impact outcomes. Strategy projects are generally initiated internally and/or at the direction of the Board, Group CEO or members of the Group Management Committee. Strategy projects often involve complex and detailed analytical reviews of current business and industry performance followed by the development of recommendations for decision by the Group.
The Head of Group Strategy identify, assess and solve critical and challenging problems. They are responsible for identifying, developing and/or evaluating strategic project proposals and business cases, scoping and leading priority projects and working in partnership with Group business owners to advance strategic recommendations, and ensuring appropriate decision-making realises value for the business and customers. The Head of Strategy manages, develops and facilitates a strong high-performance culture across a team of strategy managers, associates and analysts. They ensure proactive recruiting, team development and team retention that ensures an ongoing strength in internal strategy capability and what is widely recognised as critical talent development for the Group.
You'll have
- 12+ years relevant experience
- Graduate degree in a relevant discipline and post graduate qualifications
- Highly developed people management skills and experience managing people managers.
- Strong experience leading teams in a changing environment.
- Strong ability to maintain and enhance external networks.
- Highly experienced with external stakeholder management.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Significant leadership experience in management/strategy consulting, preferably with a top tier firm.
- Exceptional understanding of business processes and extensive experience in commercial and /or operational business functions.
- Superior strategy development, financial, communications and project management skills.
- Thorough understanding of strategic evaluation and financial evaluation techniques.
- Proven ability to quickly identify issues, structure project plans and develop strategic options.
- Experience in leading project teams and developing staff.
- Customer oriented approach with an ability to question and challenge effectively whilst maintaining strong relationships.
- Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the aviation industry.
