**About the role**:
As the Payroll Assistant for Loan Market Group you will report to the Payroll Specialist and be jointly responsible for the end to end payroll function for the Group. With at least 2 years payroll experience, you will be proficient in all payroll tasks required to process fortnightly, monthly and termination payments. Your positive, can-do attitude and focus on providing a high level of service to stakeholders across the group will be essential. You will be proficient with technology and contribute to process and system improvements. You will be confident enough to take responsibility for payroll when the Payroll Specialist is out of the office. This part time (20-30 hours per week) role can be done during school hours or 3 days per week, we are flexible depending on experience etc.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**End to end processing of all employees within the fortnightly & monthly pay cycle (including NZ)**
- Data entry of timesheets & bonus payments
- Calculation and payment of terminations
- Processing increases and calculation of back payments
- Balancing general ledger reports
**Payroll Administration**
- Creating new starters and removing terminations
- Activating/deactivating user accounts in ConnX
- Updating and maintaining payroll records including address, bank accounts, superannuation choice of fund
- Filing, Scanning and attaching of employee records
- Processing the additional pay run that falls outside the 15th pay cycle. (this is usually around end of month)
- Updating terms of employment i.e. salary, hours, position
- Calculating and processing termination payments including redundancies
- Managing payroll inbox
**End of Month Processes**
- Complete end of month processes including:
- Superannuation process
- PAYG payments
- Calculation of payroll tax
- Monthly reporting
**Adhoc Tasks as Required Including**:
- Provide payroll cover to support annual leave without impacting the salary payments for employees
- Supporting system upgrades and maintenance
- Troubleshooting
- Administration and reporting
- End of financial processes and reconciliations
- Cross checking other team members work as needed
- Continuous business improvement initiatives
**Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
- Preferred experience in large payroll system (Sage Access, Connx and CFS super highly regarded)
- Minimum of 2 years payroll processing experience
- Understanding of payroll legislation and complex award/EBA interpretation as well as a basic understanding/knowledge of tax, super and leave entitlements/accruals
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Attention to detail and accurate
- Desire to learn and develop skills and knowledge in payroll
- Great with technology
- Customer Focussed
- Positive attitude and team player
- Ability to manage time, take ownership of issues, work independently
- Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
- Numerical ability and data entry skills.
- Ability to interpret awards and relevant legislation
- Qualifications in a related discipline would be highly regarded
