It focuses on delivering legal services and education within healthcare settings, addressing family violence and family law matters for clients referred through hospitals and health providers.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing high-quality legal advice and representation on domestic and family violence, family law, and child protectionResponding to on-call requests for legal advice within the Health Justice PartnershipDelivering outreach legal services and conducting community legal educationRepresenting clients in court and tribunal settingsCollaborating with clinicians and health professionals on legal education and mandatory reportingCreating legal content for education programs and online platformsSupporting CAWLS' partnerships and strengthening referral pathways between health and legal servicesContributing to law reform, reporting, and organisational complianceTo read the full position description, please click here.About YouTo qualify, you will need to be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory.
Post-admission experience in areas such as family and domestic violence is highly desirable.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Experience as a legal educator or facilitator with excellent public speaking skillsPrevious work in Community Legal Centres and/or Health Justice Partnership settingsUnderstanding of domestic and family violence dynamics in regional and remote areasExperience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or First Nations backgroundsFamiliarity with the CLASS databaseAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong communication and time management skills, cultural awareness, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.
You'll be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, high-impact team.This is a meaningful opportunity for a compassionate and driven legal practitioner who wants to improve access to justice, support women's safety, and collaborate across systems to deliver real change.Please note: This is a female-identified position under Sections 30 and 34 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984.
