About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
The Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) within MCV provides financial assistance to victims of crime committed in Victoria. VOCAT aims to assist victims of crime in their recovery by providing an accessible and empathetic service for those who require financial support.
About the role
The Learning and Development Support Officer, VOCAT is a new role that is critical in supporting the recruitment, induction and training of additional staff that are being onboarded as part of an expansion of the VOCAT team. The role will work with VOCAT teams to identify learning needs, establish learning pathways, and facilitate access to a range of learning options for staff in consultation with the Learning & Development Advisor, peers, managers and the Judiciary. This includes the provision of group training and 1:1 support as required and learning resource maintenance and development. This role will work closely with the Learning & Development Advisor, VOCAT, to implement existing learning solutions and develop new solutions in accordance with identified priorities.
About you
- a sound knowledge of VOCAT legislation, policies, processes and procedures
- ability to effectively communicate with, support, encourage and motivate staff in an engaging manner to learn complex concepts
- excellent planning and organising skills to assist with coordination of professional development, training and wellbeing events as well as VOCAT's work placement and PLT programs and keep accurate records.
