Sims Metal
is a global leader in metal recycling. The VIC Maintenance team is seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter – Fixed Plant to join our Brooklyn-based site. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, servicing, and day-to-day repairs on fixed plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including hammermill shredders, conveyor systems, balers, and metal sorters
Work to a daily maintenance plan and complete all relevant documentation
Respond to and assist with equipment breakdowns
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Follow all safety, environmental, and quality protocols
About You
Trade qualified Fitter & Turner, with experience in conveyors, motors, and gearboxes
Confident in general welding
Hold a current driver's license
Hands-on experience in a similar heavy industrial or metal processing environment
Strong diagnostic and repair skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
