We are seeking talented full-time Chefs with experience in a wide variety of cuisine for our modern, state-of-the-art production facility based at Melbourne Airport.
We cater thousands of freshly curated quality meals for a restaurant-in-the-sky experience daily for our domestic and international Airline customers, across Economy, Business and First class.
What does a typical day look like?
You will be working in a busy, open plan kitchen preparing and cooking various international hot and cold meals in commercial quantities for our customer Airlines.
You will assist our Sous Chefs with planning and executing the daily and weekly schedule of flights to meet our delivery targets.
In a Nutshell, Your Main Responsibilities Are
Preparing hot & cold meals for business & economy class passengers for various domestic and international Airlines.
Following precise recipes and inspired dishes from menus we\'ve tailored to each of our Airline partners
Handling bulk ingredients and working on mise en place
Responsible for stock control & minimising food wastage.
Follow instructions from your section CDP or Sous Chefs with assigned tasks
Work with teams of Catering Attendants and Production Leading Hands with fulfilling the daily work orders.
Cleaning & maintaining a hygienic work station and kitchen environment at all times.
Strictly following menu specifications (accurately following recipes, portioning, food prep) as well as Food Safety / HACCP, WHS & QA guidelines.
What do you need to be successful in securing this role?
Certificate III Commercial Cookery or higher qualifications required.
Passion & drive to deliver high quality food to our customers.
Ability to work a flexible 7-day rotating roster.
Understanding of ingredients and experience cooking Asian Cuisine such as Japanese, Thai, Malay, Nyonya or Cantonese recipes.
Chinese will be highly regarded
Understanding of written & verbal English, able to follow recipes and communicate.
Strong attention to detail.
Good organisational & time management skills.
Must be motivated, hardworking & have a good attitude.
Ability to work under pressure in a very busy kitchen.
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred.
As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
Availability to work 38 hours/week, as this role is a full-time permanent position.
