Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands.
Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.Primary purpose of the roleWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cook to join our Catering team.
This role is responsible for preparing nutritious, well-presented, and high-quality meals that meet the dietary requirements of our residents, while maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.As a Cook in our aged care facility, you will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of our residents through the delivery of enjoyable and balanced meals.Key Accountabilities
• Understand each person and recognise their unique background and individual needs, whilst supplying empathic care to all customers.

• Partner with catering team and broader care services team to ensure strong collaboration between teams and ensure high level of care is provided to residents.

• Communicate with residents to resolve complaints and ensure satisfaction.

• Plan, prepare, and cook meals in line with dietary requirements, allergies, and texture modifications.

• Ensure all meals are served to a high standard of presentation and quality.

• Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene practices at all times.

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as required.

• Previous cooking experience in an aged care, health care, or hospitality environment.

• Knowledge of special dietary needs, including allergies and modified diets.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Certificate in Commercial Cookery (highly regarded).

• Food Safety Certificate (essential or willingness to obtain).

• A caring and respectful approach when working with older people.

• The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a respectful and professional approach
• Strong relationship building skills with a person-centric approach
