Responsibilities:

  • Cooks prepare, season and cook food in the kitchen.

Euro Cafe in NSW is looking for a passionate kitchen staff to join our team.

  • Physical set up and operation of the wash up area and thorough clean down area at the end of shift
  • Ensuring all kitchen equipment, dishes, cutlery and glasses are cleaned
  • Assisting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation
  • Performing basic kitchen tasks such as peeling, cutting, and washing vegetables
  • Supplementing food via herbs, spices, and/or salts, intended to enhance a particular flavour.
  • Handling and storing food items properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination
  • Receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly
  • Effectively regulate the temperature of cooking equipment (e.g.- ovens, grills, and other)
  • Working collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation during service
  • Can train the staff/apprentices if required.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a cook role, preferably in a sandwich bar, café, or restaurant.
  • Passion for food and creating unique dishes and starters.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Creativity and a willingness to experiment with new ingredients and flavors.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.


Salary: $75,000 to $78,000 (Plus Superannuation).

Responsibilities And Duties:

  • Ensure consistency in presentation, flavour, and portion size.
  • Follow recipes and contribute to the development of new baked items and seasonal specials.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering baking ingredients and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen workspace in line with food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans, and kitchen scales.
  • Work with Cooks and other kitchen staffs for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
  • Work with the Director to plan the menus that are flavourful and popular with customers.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
  • Monitor and ensure food quality, quantity, taste and presentation are in accordance to the menu and customer preference at all times.
  • Perform food preparation tasks and to check quality/presentation of orders to make sure food is cooked consistently and properly.
  • Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time.
  • Ensure kitchen is kept to a high standard by providing a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation and delivery of meals
  • Assist the Director to conduct recruitment activities for cook and other food preparation workers including making shortlist, interview and selecting candidates
  • Stock and maintain adequate levels of food product at line stations.
  • Advise on cooking methods and practices.
  • Assist and support the Director in routine and specific tasks.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen.
