**About the role**
We are currently seeking a **Technical Design Officer**to join our team, with a focus on delivering high-quality design and project support for projects across the **South West Victoria** region (including Geelong) within the Powercor network.
- This role is responsible for the design, estimating, and project management of overhead, underground, sub-transmission, and optic fibre infrastructure for both internal and external Network Services clients. You will also conduct minor survey work, maintain accurate asset records, and assist in the implementation of relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional with experience in utility design, looking to make a meaningful contribution to infrastructure projects across Victoria's southern region.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide effective design and advice in relation to the design of overhead lines, to agreed standards, and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines and customer requirements.
- Undertake minor surveying activities in accordance with the customer requirements, agreed timeframes, cost effective manner.
- Verify designs produced by others, as well as manufacturer supplied drawings, in accordance with agreed standards, 'Safety in Design 'guidelines and company requirements.
- Prepare detailed construction plans for distribution, sub-transmission and station design projects and maintain system records in accordance with appropriate standards and customer requirements.
- Prepare cost and resource estimates for electrical distribution system projects in a timely manner in accordance with Powercor's established procedures.
- Monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of network designs and ensure unproductive time is maintained at a minimum and all hours worked for are charged accordingly in a timely manner.
- Undertake special projects as designated in accordance with project management principles and ensure delivery is in accordance with project management principles on time, quality and cost constraints.
- Provide effective design management to deliver projects of medium complexity within agreed time frames, quality and cost constraints
**Key Criteria**
- Certificate of Technology (Electrical)/Certificate IV Electrical/ Associate Diploma Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary based qualification.
- Previous design experience in the electrical distribution or sub transmission industry.
- Experience in distribution, sub transmission and station design principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of electrical networks, operation and construction plans.
- Knowledge in using AutoCAD (or equivalent), operation, and construction plan
- Understanding of Safety in Design practices
