**About the Role**

We are looking to hire Team Leaders for our SIL, NDIS houses around the Perth Metro (Currently focused around Armadale and surrounds, or Wellard) for a variety of clients with different levels of care needs.

We are currently looking for permanent full-time Disability Support Workers who are looking for a career in this industry and want to progress their skills and progress in the company long-term; Starting with this Team Leader position.

The role of the Team Leader is to work with clients within the NDIS framework, assisting them to achieve their goals and increase their independence and participation within the community. All clients require support in their residential homes with core duties being providing medication, ADL's, assisting with errands, shopping, appointments and domestic duties. The Team Leader will manage the house schedule regarding these duties and, with the support of the office staff, supervise the others working in the home.

**Preferred Experience**

Our clients work best with staff who are able to keep them engaged, providing them with adequate assistance in keeping their lives full and interactive in waking hours, assisting them with routines, medication and home cleanliness. This position would require Disability Support Workers who are capable of handling challenging behaviours and are adept at assisting the clients with their full attention at all times and redirecting where needed.

Preferred at least 2 years experience, and a Cert IV in Disability Support or similar.

Key duties include:

- Assisting clients with social outings and appointments, driver's license and own vehicle a must.
- Ensuring the client's calendar is planned in advance and assisting with maintaining the client's calendars day-to-day with either yourself, or other support workers.
- Providing personal care such as assisted showering, grooming and pad changes.
- Domestic duties such as cleaning, washing and maintaining the home environment, and ensuring a cleaning roster is instigated and completed in each home.
- Encouraging a healthy diet, assisting with meal preparation, planning and eating. Organising the shopping and keeping a stocktake and budget of the household.
- Challenging behaviour management and positive behaviour encouragement. Assisting the other support workers with utilising PBS advice and maintain their own relationships with clients.
- Medication Administration and assisting with higher medical needs such as diabetes management. Checking and ensuring all paperwork is completed and following up with those who make medication errors or similar.
- Assisted manual handling with a variety of hoists.
- Appointment management and liaise with medical professionals.
- Providing reports on the support workers and participants to management and advising on house items that need addressing such as poor performance, risk assessments or similar.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as guardians, NDIS representatives, family, OT, PBS, doctors, hospital staff and other medical professionals.
- Support and reinforce a positive house culture and emanate the Apex Lifestyle values of compassion, respect, equality & engagement, commitment and brilliance.

**Skills & Experience**
- with the assistance and input of their extended care team. They will have the people skills to build and maintain meaningful, lasting relationships with their clients and their close contacts. They will also demonstrate a commitment to being a productive and positive member of the broader home and community team. They will represent themselves in a manner appropriate of somebody who represents the company to all other stakeholders involved in the client's life and the wider community.

As well as the above skills, the Key Requirements include:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check and 4x Module Completion
- Manual Handling Certificate within 2 years
- Full First-Aid and yearly CPR Training Certificate
- Proof of working rights - Passport, Visa, Citizenship
- Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Working with Children Check issued in Western Australia.
- Experience with challenging behavior

- NDIS: 1 year (preferred)
