About the Senior Network Engineer (Network Automation) role at Westpac
What's the role?
This role is crucial within the mid to large-scale network security operations team. Responsibilities include handling Level 3 escalations and organizing vulnerability management and maintenance windows.
Your intermediate to professional coding/scripting skills will support our network automation platform, handling customer requests. Your expertise will also extend to scripting for database queries, enhancing databases that store network telemetry and status information. If you are driven by innovation and enjoy solving complex challenges, this role offers an excellent opportunity to excel.
Key Duties:
Installation, configuration, and upgrading of hardware, systems, and software for networks.
Monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous improvement to optimize network and security performance.
Identifying, analyzing, and managing risks across all work aspects.
Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies and monitoring access.
Designing and architecting projects, including high-level and detailed designs.
Providing technical consultation to business and technology stakeholders, supporting infrastructure partners and other teams.
What do I need?
Intermediate Python scripting/coding skills.
Experience with DevOps tools: BitBucket, Jenkins, JIRA, GitHub, Terraform, Vault.
Operational expertise in network security, including experience with F5 load balancer, GTM/LTM, firewalls (Juniper SRX, Fortinet FortiGate), VMware (Broadcom) NSX.
Data management skills: data collection, schema binding, data manipulation, and analysis.
