Grow Well Nutritionist/ Dietitian – Public Health Services SectionLocation: Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region Job Title: Nutritionist/ Dietitian Classification: Health Care Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract (Through to July 2024)The Nutritionist/Dietitian will join Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) to support primary health care services in the Barkly region, including the communities of Ali Curung, Canteen Creek, Epenarra, Mungkarta and Elliott.
This fixed-term role is based in Tennant Creek and reports to the Executive Manager Public Health Services Section.Responsibilities include (not exhaustive):Work within AHAC framework, policies and CARPA clinical protocols.Deliver nutrition education sessions and cooking demonstrations to build community capacity for healthy food choices.Participate in health promotion activities and contribute to public health discussions.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other clinicians; maintain accurate patient records in the electronic clinic database.Support professional development of nutrition/dietetics staff and represent AHAC at committees or conferences as required.Undertake other duties as required.Key Skills and Qualifications:Demonstrated expert therapeutic nutrition/dietetic skills with ability to apply clinical guidelines and policies for patient management.Ability to provide clinical advice to other health professionals and engage in shared decision-making.Strong clinical decision-making and ability to develop joint management plans with diverse audiences.Experience in providing dietary advice and education to patients and the broader community.Commitment to culturally responsive practice and ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal communities.Plans for continuing professional development and capacity building within the team.Organise health promotion events focusing on nutrition management and chronic disease prevention; ability to conduct 1-on-1 and group education sessions.Requirements: Tertiary qualification from a recognised Australian university (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration in Australia.
Experience with Aboriginal organisations or communities is highly regarded; understanding of Aboriginal primary health care issues and social determinants of health is essential.
Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt programs to local values and protocols.Compliance: National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children's) required prior to commencement.Apply: If you meet the criteria and want to contribute to the local community, we want to hear from you.
