We are offering a rare opportunity for a hospitality professional to join the management team of one of Melbourne's most established wine bars & restaurants

The City Wine Shop & European Restaurant in Spring Street is looking for a Venue Manager to assist in the successful operation of our busy and well established wine bar and restaurant. This position will suit someone who is passionate about food and wine, loves offering exceptional customer service and has a strong desire to lead and inspire a professional team.

A bit about the position:

- Hands-on role that is responsible for the day to day running of both the City Wine Shop & European Restaurant
- Manage the performance of all FOH team members & maintain strong working relationships with all colleagues
- Maintain the reputation, high standards and culture of the venue
- Develop guests relations with new & long term regular customers
- Assist with the training of new and existing team members
- Brief staff on new food & beverage items & list changes
- Prepare & manage FOH rosters
- Conduct regular meetings with team members and all stakeholders
- Able to bring warmth to every service and encourage the team to always do the same.

- Have a passion and appreciation for food & wine
- Be a strong leader on the floor, ensuring the smooth running of the service, supporting the floor and kitchen staff and engaging with our guests to ensure their experience is a positive one.
- Have an eye for detail and enjoy doing things the right way
- An ongoing commitment to improving your skills and product knowledge
- Ability to communicate in a clear, polite, and professional manner
- Enjoy and thrive working in a fast paced dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with our customers and work colleagues
- Hold a WSET 3 certification or Court of Master Sommeliers Certified level (preferred but not essential)
- Experience with working with a POS and Inventory system and also MS Office Suite
- Have a strong work ethic, common sense, passion and drive with the ability to tackle a hectic service with calm and confidence
- Able to work flexible hours including one weekend day
