
External Reporting Manager

**Your Role**
To ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with deadlines, both internal and regulatory, for both AU and NZ.
**Your Responsibilities**
- Overall coordination of the External Reporting Team to ensure tasks are appropriately prioritised and delivered in accordance with deadlines.
- Technical support, including researching new accounting standards and other regulatory changes, e.g. APRA and RBNZ.
- Review and approval of tasks completed by team, including journals
- Review of the quarterly and annual APRA and RBNZ returns, in conjunction with the external reporting team.
- Preparation of quarterly Enterprise Risk Reports and Board Papers in accordance with meeting dates, ensuring commentary is meaningful and accurate.
- Delivery of Board documents to Company Secretary in accordance with agenda.
- Review of annual financial statements and half-year accounts for NZ.
- Review and sign-off of Blackline reconciliations approved by team.
- Overseeing investment accounting and transfers of excess cash to/from the investment portfolio, including resolving any issues which may arise.
- Coordinating IFRS17 reporting with local, regional and central teams, including monitoring processing of system feeds to Peoplesoft, including Aptitude and actuarial feeds.
- Coordination of the external audit on a day-to-day basis to ensure audit team are provided with information requested from the business and audit completed as efficiently as possible.
- Fulfilling requests from external auditors as required.
- Coordination of annual capital plans, review of output and preparation of narrative for meetings with CFO and Regional office.
- Providing mentoring and training to team as required. Fortnightly one-on-ones, mid-year and annual performance reviews with direct reports (3 Financial Accountants).
- Continuous improvement initiatives, including use of Alteryx and other tools.
- Approval of payments and transfers in various banking platforms, and internal system on roster basis.
- Ad-hoc internal and external requests as required.
**Your Skills & Experience**
- 5+ years work experience in Accounting within an Insurance Environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team.
- Holds a CA or CPA qualification.
- Advanced excel skills.
- Proven oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills.
- External reporting experience preferred.
- Experience working in General Insurance preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS17 reporting highly desired.
