St John's Primary School, Lambton is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Care Worker to join our vibrant school community in a permanent part-time capacity.
Commencing: 13 October 2025 | Hours: 14 per week.
St John's Primary School, Lambton is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and to supporting the wellbeing and holistic development of every child.
As a Pastoral Care Worker you will promote student wellbeing, offer social and emotional support, and contribute to a positive school culture.
You'll collaborate with staff, students and families to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Responsibilities
Provide pastoral care services to students and support the wellbeing of the broader school community.
Engage with the school community according to the guidelines defined in the NSCP (Guidelines on NSW Arrangements for 2020–2022) and relevant project agreements.
Experience / Criteria
Be a Catholic
Understand and support the Catholic Identity and mission of the school and have a good understanding of Catholic schools and the wider community
Be an ethical, respected individual within and outside the school
Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Principal, Parish Priest or representative, teaching staff, parents, Learning Support staff, the school Counsellor, and the broader community
Demonstrate good organizational ability and capacity to work effectively in a school environment
Be competent in monitoring and reporting requirements of CSO and NSCP
Prioritize the wellbeing of students and families
Comply with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW) and related child protection laws
Qualifications
Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
Completion of anaphylaxis training
Meet NSCP minimum qualification requirements (a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care or equivalent)
Conditions of Employment
Salary is in accordance with Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020.
