Are you passionate about supporting the wellbeing of children and helping them flourish in a nurturing, faith-based environment? St John Vianney Primary School in Morisset is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Care Worker to join our vibrant school community.
About the RoleThis is a Permanent Part Time position (14 hours per week), perfect for someone who is passionate about student wellbeing and is looking to make a lasting impact within a supportive team. You'll work closely with staff, students, and families to promote a caring and respectful school culture.
Pastoral care is defined in the Project Agreement with the Commonwealth Government as the practice of looking after the personal needs of students, not just their academic needs, through the provision of general spiritual and personal advice.
The role of the pastoral care worker will vary depending on the needs of the individual schools and their communities. Therefore, schools are encouraged to shape the role of the position according to local needs and the capacities of the incumbent.
Responsibilities- Provide strategies that support the wellbeing of the broader school community.
- Support the Pastoral Care of students by providing general spiritual and personal guidance, in line with the school's Catholic identity.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and the local parish to promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
- Be a Catholic
- Understand and support the Catholic Identity and mission of the school
- Operate as an ethical, respected individual within and outside the school
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with the Principal, Parish Priest or representative, teaching staff, parents, Learning Support Staff, school Counsellor, and the broader community
- Demonstrate good organizational ability and capacity to work in a school environment
- Be competent in monitoring and reporting requirements of CSO and NSCP
- Prioritize the wellbeing of students and families
- Comply with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW) and related child protection laws
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Completion of anaphylaxis training
- Meet NSCP minimum qualification requirements (Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care or equivalent)
- Salary is in accordance with Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020.
