About the Role
- Assign diagnosis, morbidity, clinical, procedure and mortality data and codes to cancer persons records, through performing the following:
- Reviewing cancer notifications and abstracting relevant information in accordance with current standards
- Reviewing and verifying the cancer information to ensure that it is timely, accurate and consistently coded cancer data.
- Input codes into the QOOL-R computer system
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of clinical coding under the direction of the Senior Clinical Coder with the aim of meeting coder competency standards.
- While not mandatory, the following is highly desirable:
- Comprehensive Medical Terminology course or Challenge Examination in Medical Terminology.
- Introductory ICD0, ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding course (or equivalent).
