
Care Support Worker

As a proactive member of the Macedonian Welfare Association of NSW Inc. Aged Care team, you will provide specialised support to clients from Macedonian and other culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds across the Illawarra and Southeast Sydney. As a Care Support Worker, you will be required to assist clients with their activities of daily living which include but are not limited to personal care, domestic assistance, and social support.
**Qualifications and Experience**
**Essential**:
- Fluent in the Macedonian Language or languages from Former Yugoslavia
- Own vehicle
- Current Driver License
- Comprehensive Car Insurance
- Experience in Aged Care work
**Desirable or willingness to obtain**:
- Certificate III in Aged Care or its equivalent
- First Aid Certificate
- Police Check

**Duties and Accountabilities**:
- Provide a range of in-home care support services for clients including but not limited to personal care, domestic assistance, medication prompts, cooking, and social support
- Assist clients with personal care and self-care which include duties such as assistance with showering, dressing, and assisting clients with self-administration of medications by medication prompts
- Provide domestic assistance for clients which include general house cleaning such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting.
- Provide social support for clients through interaction, visiting client's home, and accompanying and assisting clients on outings such as shopping.
- Transport clients with your personal vehicle to and from social activities, client appointments, health practitioners, and shopping outings.
- Provide food services which include duties such as food preparation in the home, and meal deliveries.
- Ensure that Macedonian Welfare Association of NSW Inc policy and procedure are properly administered and adhered to.
- Ensure all matters relevant to client administration, as per duties, are dealt with expeditiously with policies and procedures followed through to completion.
- Keep up to date with contemporary and relevant aged care issues, ideas and strategies occurring within the industry with a view of incorporating them, where appropriate into related working areas.
- Effective time management skills which consider client needs and service funding limitations
- Participate in client case discussions and reviews
- Maintain accurate day to day documentation of client interaction
- Monitor and record changes in client care needs and raise clients, carers, and supervisors' awareness of it
- Provide client supervision and/or assistance in accordance with agreed client care plans
- Operate in a manner which will increase client's awareness of services, community participation, confidence, wellbeing, feelings of self-worth and promote clients' independence
- Provide information to service users on aged care services and/or to refer when necessary
- Attend and participate in relevant staff, organisational and network meetings as well as professional development reviews
- Enter relevant data into client files.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively with clients of complex needs and their carers
- Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required and instructed by Macedonian Welfare Association Manager and Executive Employees.
**Employment hourly rate**:
Level 1 / 2 (depending on skills and qualifications) of Social and Community Services Employee, in accordance to the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
