Stockyard's operations span breeding, pastoral operations and lot feeding through to global sales and marketing, with Stockyard's Kerwee feedlot a modern 20,200 head cattle facility located at Jondaryan, Queensland.

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our Group Management Team as the Feed Mill Manager. The feeding and milling team runs a tight ship at Kerwee Feedlot, ensuring the cattle in our care are fed on time and in full each and every day to optimise production and quality outcomes. Their hard work is part of the reason we've been recognised as ALFA's feedlot of the year 2 times in a row.

**What you'll be doing**:
Reporting directly to the Feedlot Manager and working closely with our Livestock, Maintenance and Office teams, you will:

- Lead the feeding and milling team to produce and deliver quality processed feed.
- Manage daily Bunk Call reading.
- Supervise Feeding Operators, ensuring shed hygiene and tidiness and maintenance of bunks.
- Manage inventory in accordance with agreed targets and monitor ingredient quality and consistency, ensuring ration meets the specification as set by the Feedlot Manager and Company Nutritionist.
- Liaise with the Company Nutritionist regarding livestock intake and weight gain.
- Liaise with the Livestock Manager regarding condition and welfare of stock.
- Assist the Feedlot Manager to develop, review and recommend policies and programs including contractor engagement, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk reviews and maintenance scheduling.
- Ensure maintenance and monitoring records are kept up to date for plant and machinery. Liaise with the Maintenance Manager as required and perform maintenance procedures according to the daily task list.
- Responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of all plant and equipment, buildings and infrastructure allocated to the Feed Mill Department. Own your department's KPIS and record, update and communicate benchmarking data to drive them KPI's.
- Record and review R&D projects.
- Assist the Feedlot Manager in coordinating farming activities to complement feeding requirements including liaising with contractors.
- Promote an effective and supportive team environment. Ensure all personnel are trained in practical and safe operational procedures within the Feed Mill Department.

**About you**:

- Previous milling experience.
- Feed allocation and feeding experience would be an advantage.
- A good understanding of feedlot feeding and inventory software programs (Elynx or similar).
- Leadership and governance ability.
- Problem solving, planning and organisational skills.
- Attention to detail and time management.
- Advanced communication and relationship building skills.
- A high level of WHS understanding.
