**The M&A Team**

The M&A team are comprised of highly regarded lawyers that are well versed with providing advice on large scale, and high profile cross-border deals and transactions across different jurisdictions. They are at the forefront of many significant reforms, and therefore have the capability to support clients on an array of investment activities or regulatory issues concerning ASIC, the Takeovers Panel, the Foreign Investment Review Board, the Australian Securities Exchange, and APRA.

In particular, the Brisbane group advise list of large blue-chip energy and resources clients, including several of the world's biggest oil and gas companies and a number of other major private companies in the sector.

**The Role**

This role will see you working closely with partners in the Brisbane M&A team focusing on Energy & Resources (E&R). You will gain exposure to a wide variety of work within the practice group and have the chance to participate in the most complex and interesting transactions in the market.

Some of the matters you will be advising on include:

- Acquisitions and divestments in the energy and resources sectors
- Joint ventures, JOAs, shareholders agreements and farm-in arrangements
- Other commercial contracts in the sector, including rail and port arrangements
- Project development approvals, including negotiating agreement for land access and native title;
- Occasional matters in the Land Court or National native Title Tribunal dealing with project approval objections or compensation disputes
- Regulatory matters involving energy and resources operations

**Requirements**:
To be successful, you will have experience working in the energy and resources sector at a top firm, as well as experience advising on M&A transactions and/or project development.

In addition, you will have the following:

- A passion for energy and resources and the desire to learn and develop
- The ability to work autonomously on small to medium sized matters, as well as collaborative with others in a team environment on larger matters
- Exceptional client service skills and a willingness to develop effective working relationships
- The skills to manage and mentor junior lawyers
- The ability to establish a professional profile and build an internal network across all of the offices
