Overview
School Psychologist role at the Department of Education, Western Australia.
This is a permanent part-time (0.4 FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2025.
Applecross Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated School Psychologist to join their supportive team.
The start date can be negotiated for the successful applicant.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders; consult widely and work effectively with the Student Services team, students and parents.
Provide direct student support and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of whole-school wellbeing programs in collaboration with staff to promote a positive school culture, resilience and mental health initiatives across all year levels.
Work with students ranging from individuals through small groups to whole cohorts; support high performing students with tailored strategies to manage academic pressure and maintain wellbeing.
Be an active member of the case management team, contributing to planning and intervention strategies that support student wellbeing and engagement; align with the school's core values of Personal Best and Mutual Respect to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Collaborate with the Student Services team to identify and respond to emerging needs within the school community.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation).
Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a self-directed manner and as part of an interdisciplinary team with a range of clients and partners.
Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
