Maintenance Technician

Our client, a family-owned dairy dessert manufacturer located in Melbourne's inner north, is seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Technician to join their maintenance/engineering team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation of the plant and equipment through regular maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects and work within a supportive environment. Job Summary: As a Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the plant and equipment by conducting regular maintenance, efficient repairs, and implementing improvements. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist with or take ownership of various projects, contributing to the ongoing success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and effectively to breakdowns, minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.
- Perform correct and efficient plant and equipment setups to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to improving the efficiency and reliability of plant and equipment through maintenance and optimization activities.
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts inventory and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Undertake maintenance and project tasks as directed by the Plant Engineer.
Other Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assist in factory trials, providing support and technical expertise as required.
- Adhere to all legal, company, and industry health and safety policies and food safety regulations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes.
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment, collaborating effectively with team members.
Inherent Requirements:
- Demonstrate proficiency and safe operation of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Possess reasonable physical condition, including the ability to lift up to 15kgs, kneel, bend, squat, stand for extended periods, walk around the worksite, climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Work independently while being receptive to directions and feedback.
- Uphold the company's professional and ethical standards, promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, fostering positive relationships and effective teamwork.
Hours of Duty: This is a full-time position with a 38-hour workweek spread over four days. Normal working hours are between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm, with a rotating Rostered Day Off (RDO). RDOs may be occasionally adjusted based on production needs and with prior approval from the Plant Engineer. Hours may vary depending on production requirements and project timelines.
