Staff Specialist Urology

About the role
Provide clinical care to patients requiring Urological Services within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, and to clinically manage the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable service to ensure appropriate patient care. This includes outpatients, inpatients, elective and emergency Surgery. In addition, provide professional leadership within the specialty area and provide training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.

**The key responsibilities of the role are**:

- Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and initiatives.
- Provide an accountable and high standard of patient care in Urology.
- Participate fully in the on call roster as required by the facility and in accordance with clinical privileges.
- Assessment of new referrals and follow up review of patients.
- The Ipswich Hospital is a teaching hospital, the role includes supervision and teaching of Registrars, RMO's, and medical students.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service and the WMH Values.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace that values the health and safety of co-workers, clients and visitors.
- Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients and visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).
- Actively participate in the Health Service 1:1 conversation process.

About you
- Knowledge of current medical practices and issues, and evidence of an appropriate level of expertise in the skills of the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to review, analyse and evaluate patient care for the identification of appropriate treatment and investigations.
- Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal skills) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and hospital clients from a variety of backgrounds.
- A personal commitment to the maintenance of high standards in the clinical care to patients and proven ability to react promptly to emergency or urgent situations impacting upon patient care.
- Ability to practice medicine in a cross-cultural environment.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
