For nearly 150 years, Morphettville, the home of the South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) and thoroughbred racing, has been an important social, sporting and economic hub for South Australia, proudly hosting days of racing action, as well as being a multipurpose venue featuring function rooms and numerous outdoor spaces able to host events of all occasions. Currently undergoing a $350m redevelopment, Morphettville will soon be home to a new community plaza, mixed use apartment buildings, townhouses, a supermarket and more. Entering an exciting period of growth and developing their workforce for the future, there is a new opportunity for a meticulous and dedicated Finance Officer to join their vibrant team.
What you will do:
As a Finance Officer at Morphettville, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient management of financial transactions. You will handle both accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all payments are processed accurately and on time. Your keen eye for detail will enable you to monitor customer accounts effectively, following up on outstanding balances as necessary. In addition to these responsibilities, you will also assist in month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires a high level of precision, excellent organisational skills, and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
Manage and process financial transactions related to accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to suppliers, receipt of payments from customers, and maintenance of accurate financial records
Prepare payment batches (e.g., EFT, cheques) and ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier payments
Monitor customer accounts for timely receipt of payments and follow up on outstanding balances
Perform regular reconciliations of the bank accounts along with customer accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Finance Officer position brings a wealth of experience in both accounts payable and receivable functions. With your strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, you will be adept at identifying discrepancies in financial records. Your proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or SAP will be essential for success in this role. Furthermore, your excellent communication skills will enable you to interact effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
Previous experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, SAP, or similar)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
