Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently seeking a
**Trainee Strucutral Designer** in order to grow its Perth Mining & Minerals group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects.

Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects.

Learning from some of the industry's sharpest minds, key accountabilities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Technical Design Ability - Under supervision completes technical design work using relevant Wood design methods, Client and Corporate standards and specifications and data in line with Project requirements
- Produces under guidance by Principal/Lead Designer final deliverable drawings
- All drawings to be produced in accordance with client, corporate and national standards, specifications and procedures as applicable
- Receives training in Bentley Microstation 3D CADD software
- Receives training in corporate procedures and systems
- Receives instruction and guidance to broaden knowledge base and experience of design activities
- Receives exposure to other disciplines within the organisation including site construction activities to broaden knowledge base and experience
- Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Chief Designer or Chief Project Engineer

Skills / Qualifications:
What will set you apart from other applicants will be an outstanding portfolio, with up to 12 months of experience. We are looking for the right person and will look for excellent attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn. You will have a passion for mining, minerals, and sustainability. You will also have:

- Technical Expertise - a want to work towards improving and updating technical abilities. You will personally seek out opportunities to develop technical knowledge base
- Cross Discipline Project Team Interaction - you will have an appreciation of project set up and team structure across disciplines. This will be working under the guidance of other Designers
- Understanding and meeting Schedule and Schedule dependencies - you will be accountable for deliverable production to suit project schedule
- Commercial Awareness and Customer Focus - must be able to demonstrate increasing customer (client) focus, be aware of and responsive to customer (client) needs without sacrificing the project and corporate objectives
- Ability to take action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences
- Interpretation of Engineering Requirements - you must be able to initiate design solution
- Initiative and Problem Solving - you will be able to grasp new or unfamiliar concepts quickly and can effectively deal with complexity and ambiguity. You can identify issues in a constructive manner and recommends solutions. Must be able to use innovative and novel approaches to find solutions
- Change and Adaptability - gain awareness for, and an understanding of, the position of stakeholders. You must be readily adaptable to changing circumstances
- Interpersonal Communications - actively listen and seek to understand others' points of view. Communicate openly and honestly to all levels of the organisation. Express ideas and exchanges information clearly and persuasively
- Planning, organising and execution of priorities and planned work in a timely manner
