Principal Mining Engineer

Eltirus is a Brisbane based consultancy servicing Australia, New Zealand and North America that is expert in the digital transformation of all aspects of the industrial minerals, construction materials and cement industry value chain.

Due to the expansion of our activities, we are seeking a Principal Mining Engineer with strong Deswik.CAD and Deswik.Sched experience and resource optimisation (preferably Deswik.GO) skills to join our team.

As Principal Mining Engineer, you will be working with our team of surveyors, geologists, mining and geotechnical engineers, etc.) on projects that provide
real benefit
to our clients and their communities.

Projects are varied and challenging, with work including strategic planning, optimisation, due diligence studies, resource development programs and resource assessment studies amongst others.

What You'll Do

Based in Brisbane, you will undertake and provide technical advice on mining issues to clients across Australia and New Zealand including:

  • Mine design, scheduling, optimisation, technical reviews and due diligence work.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, including the supervision, review and evaluation of work undertaken by junior (and other) staff.
  • Mentor and development of staff in alignment with employee long-term career objectives and operational needs.
  • Produce industry leading reports to document the work you and your team do.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Business Development staff to produce Quotes and Estimates.
  • Manage customer projects and relationships to a successful outcome.

The work is
varied
and
challenging
and while primarily Brisbane based, involves some travel to sites (usually for 1-2 days at a time each month).

About You

  • Currently a Principal Mining Engineer OR a motivated Senior Mining Engineer looking for the jump to more responsibility.
  • You hold a Bachelor / Master of Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • RPEQ qualified.
  • Demonstrated experience in mine design using Deswik.CAD.
  • Strong mine scheduling experience using Deswik.Sched and IS.
  • Experience in resource optimisation (preferably using Deswik.GO).
  • Extensive mining experience, ideally within both operational roles and a consultancy.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Extensive project management skills and the ability to build relationships with both internal and external clients.
